Statement by H.E. Amb (Dr.) Stephen Karau at the Launch of the Logo of the 10th Session of the Ministerial Conference
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Director General for his statement on the launch of the Logo of the Tenth Session of the Ministerial Conference and to express our appreciation to the WTO Secretariat for collaborating with us in the designing and finalization of the Logo for MC10.
Today in Nairobi a launching ceremony of the logo of the MC10 is being held with a lot of publicity not only on the Conference itself but also raising awareness on the important role the WTO can contribute to the expansion of international trade and investments; creating jobs, and lifting many people particularly in Developing and Least-Developed Countries out of poverty.
The finalization of the Logo and its timely launching is an important milestone in the preparation of MC10. Let me assure the Members that other aspects of the preparations including logistical preparations are progressing smoothly in Nairobi.
The National Preparatory Committee which has been established is working round clock with the support and cooperation from the Secretariat on several issues. I am sure more information on the progress on various aspects of the Conference will be provided by the Chairman of the MC10 Task Force under Agenda item 5 (D).
We are also making arrangements to hold an information session here at the WTO whereby officials from National Preparatory Committee will brief the Members and provide more information on the progress in the preparations for the 10th WTO Ministerial Conference.
With the launch of the Logo we now need to accelerate momentum on the substance including the conclusion of the Post-Bali Work Programme. In this regard the Government of Kenya is committed to play its role as the host with a view to having a successful MC10 outcome.
Finally, I would like to inform the Members that the Kenya Mission here in Geneva is ready and open to any delegation for consultation, assistance or clarification on any issue relating to the preparations for the MC10.
